CloudBurst’s construction project will be a Next-Gen 20MW, 100,000 ft2, warehouse Data Center with an expansion capability of up to 30MW  located near Austin, TX. This area has bright sunshine most of the year, is geologically safe, and has a climate that is ideally suited to Data Center operations. In addition, State and local authorities have a number of attractive tax incentives that dramatically improve the economics of both the Data Center and solar facilities. The Data Center will be powered by 100MW of associated and wholly-owned solar energy infrastructure. The 5-to-1 power ratio will allow the solar plant to provide all the electricity needed to power the Data Center at an extremely attractive cost. The 80MW of excess power generated during the peak sun hours will be sold to the power authority. In other words, the Data Center will in effect utilize the grid as a battery to power its operations during non-peak-daylight hours. This design will allow for upwards of 3-4M kWh/month of surplus electricity to be generated and sold to the grid – thereby generating additional revenue as well as ensuring that the Data Center Operation is carbon-negative overall.

Since the introduction of AI and autonomous vehicles, the need for data center space is exploding and the industry is down to 2.5% available capacity in the United States.  The Data Center industry is expected to double in size in the next three years and that will not be enough to meet the needs of the market.  There is a massive need for data center space, and data center clients are looking for green solutions.  CloudBurst will solve that problem and meet that need.
