Chicago Entertainment Media Productions, LLC (CEMP) is an independent record label focusing on the music genres of Hip-Hop, Rhythm & Blues (R&B), Neo-Soul, Gospel, Stepping, House Music, Jazz, and Blues. Our aim of starting this business is to work in tandem with both established and upcoming music artists in the Chicago area (initially) to launch their music careers and take them to the next level by providing them with opportunities they otherwise might not have to become successful in the music industry.
Chicago has a very vibrant music scene, however, few opportunities exists for talented artists to pursue their passion. CEMP hopes to give those artists the opportunity they deserve and what their talents demands. The record label also will elevate the Chicago music scene to limitless heights as a "Mecca" for Black music and culture. Chicago has a selection of venues and resources to make this a reality but the city lacks any major record labels or entertainment production companies. CEMP will fill this void by creating some of the greatest artists in the industry while cultivating Chicago as a Midwestern music metropolis that will empower struggling communities to a greater financial stability. Thereby, creating an economic base for Chicago's African American poor and neglected neighborhoods to thrive and prosper. The music industry is an economic engine which has helped stimulated local economies before in Nashville, TN with the creation of Music City. Detroit's Motown not only provided an economic boost to an impoverished urban scene, but the record label provided opportunities for many talented artists who later became legends in the music industry. Today, Chicago is 5 times bigger than Detroit was when Motown started. Think of the economic boost that could come to Chicago with our city's current state of overflowing with talent.
