We are pleased to introduce you to a new approach to pediatric patient care that will
soon be available in Prince George's County, Montgomery County, and other
communities in Maryland.
Currently, several states (including Florida, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Louisiana, and
Texas) have been successfully operating different forms of Pediatric Medical Day
Care Facilities or Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers for many years, with
outstanding outcomes. These services are community-based and similar to those in
Maryland, which mix Medicaid funds through waiver programs to care for children
who are medically fragile, medically complex, technology-dependent, and those with
rare disorders.
The Center will:
• Provide exceptional pediatric care with a high level of expertise while
maintaining an optimal cost-effectiveness ratio in a non-institutional
setting.
• The first center will provide care for children between 6 weeks and 4 years and 6
months who require skilled care for acute, chronic, or intermittent conditions.
• Each facility will have a team of highly skilled professionals including
RNs, LPNs, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and
Speech Pathologists to improve accessibility for patients and
caregivers.
•In addition, ancillary clinical staff may also include Child
Development Specialist, Child Life Specialist, and Early
Interventionists, Social Workers, Nutritionist/Dieticians, Certified
Nursing Assistants, Medical Technicians, and/or Therapeutic Play
Assistants.
● Our aim is to offer the most cost-effective care option for patients, as
compared to expensive hospitalization or private-duty nursing in the
State.
● Our services can be used as a substitute for, or in addition to, private duty
nursing in the home.
● By using our services, you can avoid expensive duplication of services.
