Chefa

Beginning as a pop-up series named Balagan in 2017, Chefa set out to bring the unique experience of Israeli dining to the Bay Area. Featuring fresh, bold, tastes, the Chefa kitchen brings Chef Itamar Abramovitch’s culinary talents to the Napa Valley.

Chefa, in Hebrew means abundance and based on the abundance of a shared dining experience, Chefa recalls the less formal, more familiar times shared around the table. Comfortable and welcoming, there is no dress code, we love you as you are! At our sold-out summer pop-ups guests experienced the thrill of meeting new friends, dancing on tables, trying new flavors, and having a wonderful time.

A relatively young cuisine, the Israeli kitchen has absorbed traditions brought forth by immigrants from Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Highlighting local ingredients, Chefa brings the best the Napa Valley and the Bay Area have to offer to create the magical flavors of this multi-cultural cuisine.

Bringing Chefa to a permanent location will allow our team to create the ambiance that will complete the experience. Being fully equipped with almost all the necessary equipment, the space at First Street Napa gives us the ability to bring together the sights, sounds, feel, and smells that will make our guests eager to return before they even leave.

The price point will be on par or just below neighboring restaurants like Torc, Cole’s Chophouse, Morimoto, and Angele. The corner building at the First Street Napa location will have a mural painted above the front entry as a beacon for guests. The bar and front entry will feature a mezzanine for overflow dining and highlight the open feeling of the high ceilings. At the heart of the restaurant, a live fire oven will be the focal point and the hearth of hospitality that the Israeli culture is known for. Patrons will be able to enjoy dining indoors or at the tables that extend into the walkway at First Street Napa. Food and service will be on par with Napa Valley’s finest restaurants but with a local vibe and appeal.

The menu will feature Itamar’s distinct style of vibrant flavors and contrasting textures woven together into dishes that are exciting and memorable. The wine and spirits list will be hand chosen and will represent both the best products of the new and old world as well as the best values across the globe to accommodate both connoisseurs and the casual diner.

The restaurant will seat 40 in the bar/mezzanine and 186 in the dining room. Dinner will be served Friday through Monday in both areas and a lighter fare will be offered until midnight on the weekends.

Designed and operated with current trends in dining and spending in mind, this exciting new restaurant should prosper and become an anchor restaurant in the downtown Napa culinary scene.
