Looking to start a thoroughbred racing horse stable at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach Florida

My name is Angelo Cambria and I am creating a horse racing stable at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach Florida. With the help of an Angel investors, I would like to establish a (4) horse outfit. I will be the managing partner of the stable. My contribution to the operation will be sweat equity, bringing 55 years of experience to the table. I gained my expertise and knowledge of the business at Suffolk Downs in East Boston Massachusetts. During this time, I worked with my father who was a trainer. As a hot-walker, pony boy, exercise rider, groom, foreman and jockey agent, I learned the ins and outs of the industry, focusing on the physical and mental soundness of the horses. I then turned to ownership, owning 12 racehorses throughout a 10-year span. My wife and I built and ran a successful Carpet and Upholstery cleaning company for 31 years.

I am seeking an investment of $570,000. Once the capital has been raised, myself, my perspective trainer and bloodstock agent, will use our resources to build a team of runners through private purchases. The investment will cover all expenses for (1) year, which equates to roughly $60,000 per horse. The breakdown is as follows:

  1. 3 y/o Colt               $100,000 + $10,000 (Bloodstock Agent) + $60,000 = $170,000

  1. 3 y/o Philly             $100,000 + $10,000 (Bloodstock Agent) + $60,000 = $170,000

  1. 4 y/o Colt               $50,000 + $5,000 (Bloodstock Agent) + $60,000 = $115,000

  1. 4 y/o Philly             $50,000 + $5,000 (Bloodstock Agent) + $60,000 = $115,000

Gulfstream Park will be home base due to its high stature and lucrative purses. We will primarily focus on $50,000-$100,000 Low Stakes and Allowance races to compete. As managing partner, I, along with our trainer, will have full authority pertaining to all race placement.
