I am a service connected female owned SBA certified non-CDL Box Truck business, providing logistical support for hire via interstate and intrastate. I am hoping to acquire enough funding to purchase 1 - 26' box truck and build from there. My ultimate goal is to grow to 10 trucks and hire non-CDL female drivers who are interested in learning the logistical side of transportation within the next 3-5 years. Since I am just starting out with my DOT/MC I do not currently possess enough business credit or collateral to purchase a road worthy truck. I have rented a truck through Penske, however the cost was extremely high and not the most cost effective way to start, but the only option available at the time.
Since gaining my Authority in June, I have run multiple loads all across the US for Total Quality Logistics (TQL) and C.H. Robinson. I have also just been granted my SBA Service Connected Female Small Business Certification which will allow me to bid on government transportation contracts. I do have over 16 years of experience as a CDL Driver, but this particular business is for a non-CDL Box Truck company. I started this business with other women in mind who are interested in OTR truck driving, but are apprehensive about getting their CDL's and driving the larger 18 wheel Tractor/Trailers. I believe that women truck drivers are becoming a more prominent force in the trucking industry and I would like to be one of the first Female Veteran Trucking Companies in the industry.
Assistance with funding to purchase the right equipment would be a very big and first step in getting my Female Veteran Owned Trucking business in a position to be a strong presence in the trucking industry. The equipment needed would roughly cost between $30-40k. with any additional funds used to pay the commercial insurance and IFTA placards for the remainder of the year.
