Raising One Million as Seed Capital to Begin Production of Horror Film

I am making a horror movie called "Brad." It begins as a cringe comedy and ends as cosmic horror.

Logline: A wealthy graduate student searches for a connection between artifacts discovered on the bed of the Black Sea and troubling dreams he has had since childhood of the White Queen.

Michael John Kelly Jr. works as a History teacher in a public school in Los Angeles. He earned a History degree from the University of Michigan long ago. He was born in the Bronx, raised in suburban Michigan and lived abroad for nine years.

Ben DeHart was born in San Diego received a fine arts education. He works as a graphic artist and a classically trained painter in Los Angeles.

Jerome Elston Scott wrote and directed Connor and Jayden (2022) and Anderson’s Cross (2010). He has acted in many movies and television shows including Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000).

Synopsis:

  • Brad follows a young professor who wants to prove that an advanced civilization once existed under the Black Sea. He also suffers from lucid dreams. In these dreams, a being Brad calls the White Queen urges him to cross a purple stone bridge but he is always blocked by monstrous flying worms.

  • Brad also cosplays as a mighty wizard in his spare time. However, Brad has angered Archduke Kevin, the patron of the Renaissance Faire scene.

  • With his new girlfriend, Tiffany,  he travels to Ukraine to recover an ancient amulet from Professor Anton Voloshin who warns Brad that the amulet might be nanotechnology. Brad and Tiffany meet a woman who has dreams similar to Brad.
  • Tiffany shows Brad a video by Reverend Captain Rick Cody Jones, a mercenary conspiracy theorist who seems to know about the White Queen.
*Brad feels compelled to wear the amulet and it begins to change his body. His allergies disappear and he grows claws. He becomes stronger and defeats some thugs sent by              Archduke Kevin.

         *  When Brad describes his dreams to Voloshin, Voloshin mentions the White Queen. He shows ancient frescoes of the White Queen in a cave temple in Pakistan.

  • Brad  organizes an expedition to Pakistan, with security provided by his father. Brad, Tiffany and Voloshin flee when Captain Farrell kills a colleague. Before fleeing, they use a chalice to heal Voloshin, who begins to grow younger and stronger.
  • They leave Pakistan for Geneva, where they meet Brad’s sister, Anka. She tells them that the White Queen is coming.
In the hotel, joined by Jaden, their celebration is interrupted by Archduke Kevin and his goons. They ziptie Brad and his friends and kidnap them.

  • The kidnapping is interrupted by the Knights of Saint George, a secret society. The knights put them onto a helicopter and fly them to a submarine in the Black Sea.

  • In the submarine, Brad sees his father and stepmother. The sub travels to the submarine base, where they see ruins and the purple bridge.

  • Cromwell forces Brad to open the portal to the world of the White Queen. Just as all seems lost, Rick Cody Jones arrives with commandos and gives Brad a backpack nuke to destroy the portal.

The target audience for “Brad” is comprised of fans of horror, fans of 80s cinema, people who enjoy conspiracy theories, ancient history and people who enjoy a mix of genres.

People who play Dungeons and Dragons and those who enjoy Renaissance Faires will also enjoy “Brad.”

Ideally we would first show “Brad” at film festivals which showcase independent films (Sundance, South By Southwest, Slamdance, Tribeca)  and horror  (Screamfest Horror Film Festival,Fright Fest, Fantasia Film Festival)  with the intention of finding a distributor.

At an estimated budget of $28 million, we would need one million USD as seed capital.

  • Open an office, form an LLC.
  • Pay prior considerations
  • Hire a line producer
  • Hire a casting director

The investor of the seed capital would have a 10% stake in the film.
