Hello everyone.
My name is Justin Hastie, founder and director of the Bone Mechanics Masters Academy.
Right now, there is a systemic breakdown in how we build, educate, and uplift our local communities. BMMA was created to fix it.
BMMA grew out of my company, Bone’s Big Racks—an automotive service and custom fabrication shop built right here in Peoria. For over nine years, we’ve maintained a zero call-back record because of one non-negotiable philosophy: It is not done until it is done right.
That standard shouldn't just apply to custom metalwork—it needs to apply to how we restore human potential and strengthen our local society.
We’ve grown into the only custom truck rack company within 780 miles of our big-box competitors. Recently, two of the largest national distributors approached me to partner on a major regional hub right here in Peoria.
I humbly declined.
I turned them down because I have a far greater mission: reshaping society by repairing the foundation of our own backyard.
True social change doesn't come from policy alone; it comes from providing tangible opportunity. BMMA delivers an intensive 16-week course in high-demand welding and mechanics, specifically targeting underserved individuals, graduates without a clear path, and people re-entering society through the justice system.
As a success story myself, I know firsthand the brutal limitations that follow a conviction. Talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not. After facing those same doors closing, I founded my own business as a means of legal survival—and I vowed to create a pathway so others wouldn't have to fight that battle alone. A single poor decision should not permanently disqualify a person from contributing meaningfully to their community.
To ensure we build a stronger, safer, and more productive city, our candidate selection is rigorous:
- Prerequisite: Candidates must have successfully completed high school or their sentence.
- Referral Only: Admission requires a direct recommendation from a counselor, judge, or law enforcement officer.
- The 2-Day Trial: We test grit, speed, and dedication, accepting only 27 students a year to maintain exceptional quality.
Every accepted candidate receives a full $28,000.00 scholarship. In exchange, they sign our 366-Day Ledger—a commitment to give back directly to the community that invested in them. After graduating and entering the workforce, they return to mentor the next generation and donate labor hours toward servicing Peoria's city fleet. If they breach that pledge, the tuition converts into a debt payable directly to the City.
If we want a stronger, safer, and more prosperous society, we have to start by investing in the people within it.
We are BMMA. Let’s build a better tomorrow... today.
