Bogam Group LLC presents "EZ Can," an innovative trash can design engineered to simplify the process of removing trash bags while ensuring easy cleaning and disinfection. This project stemmed from a pivotal moment when my father, who is employed in maintenance at USPS, encountered challenges handling trash due to a shoulder injury. Motivated by his struggle, we started on a journey to create a solution, with my father as the visionary and myself as the strategic force.
The primary challenge for customers lies in the difficulty of lifting a full trash bag over the rim, particularly when it's heavy, risking tears and spills. This difficulty intensifies when the bag conforms to the can's shape, creating a vacuum effect that makes extraction more challenging. Customers often face struggles lifting both the bag and the entire trash can, resorting to holding the bag up and waiting for the can to fall off, using their feet, seeking assistance, and/or tilting the can to pull out the bag without lifting it. These struggles often result in torn bags and additional work.
Furthermore, conventional cleaning and disinfecting methods involve bending over into the can or tilting it on its side to "crawl" in it, exposing individuals to chemical fumes, increasing the risk of creating messes with cleaning chemicals, and subjecting them to the unpleasant dirtiness of the trashcan. This collectively adds to the inconvenience of managing a clean trash can.
Our product tackles these challenges with an ergonomic design featuring a unique side-swinging door. This feature enables users to effortlessly pull the trash bag from the side and facilitates cleaning and disinfecting without the need to bend or "crawl" into it. By eliminating these challenges, our design provides a safer and cleaner solution for replacing the trash and streamlines the entire cleaning and disinfecting process.
The potential buyer/customer base for our product is broad, encompassing individuals of varying demographics and needs. However, our primary targeted groups include elderly individuals, those with physical limitations due to injury or disability, and individuals working in environments where 40-60 gallon utility trash cans are frequently used, such as schools, restaurants, and office buildings. The initial focus is on utility trash cans, but we aim to expand our reach to smaller residential trash cans.
Revenue is generated through profit per unit, with scalability linked to the quantity of units purchased. We've established an operating entity with Bogam Group LLC and a dedicated website. We own a small-scale prototype and 3D design files, and a utility patent is pending. Our immediate goals include securing funding for tooling for manufacturing, obtaining trademark protection, and gaining patent approval to fortify our position in the market and successfully introduce our innovative trash can.
