I am promoting bicycle infrastructure for Portland, Oregon. I am collecting signatures and video testimony in support of a bicycle skyway system, which are being sent to transportation agencies and architectural firms, available to view on bikeskyway.org. The e-bike industry is growing. It's projected to double to $54 Billion in the next five years, however we don't have adequate infrastructure in place for this new and emerging transportation. Other cities either already have bicycle pathways (converted rail lines) or are designing elevated bicycle pathways. Bicycle skyway systems will completely separate the bicycle traffic from the car traffic in it's local area and help reduce bicycle/car accidents. Costs of current and proposed projects/ideas outlined on website. There is enthusiastic public support for improved bicycle infrastructure, at least from what I can tell at my petition signing events at a nearby farmer's market, over 500 signatures collected on an UNOFFICIAL petition in downtown Portland.
I have given public testimony to the Oregon Transportation Commission concerning bicycle infrastructure during a public hearing.
Endpoint/goal is to start preliminary design of a bicycle skyway system with architects, civil engineers, and state transportation agencies.
My website bikeskyway.org explains everything, but feel free to contact me at
[email protected] for further details.
Any grants I receive will be used for living expenses as well (rent, food shopping) as I will not be able to maintain separate accounts.
This is an individual effort and proposal.
