Bad Habitz mission is to train veterans in the entertainment industry, whether it be in front of the camera as cast, behind the camera as crew or in the music industry. The goal is for veterans to be able to work on documentaries, commercials, television shows, music videos, feature films or anything to do with entertainment, working and networking with others in both the entertainment industry and in the community.
The Market
Our ideal student is a male or female veteran, age 25 to 80 with possibly some combat experience, junior to senior enlisted and junior to senior officer with or without command experience. Who has an interest in the entertainment industry where it be in front of or behind the camera, we are also interested in training other onsite services and would like to target veterans that had specialty career and would like to directly apply that skill to the entertainment industry (crafty/cooks etc).
The Competitors
While there are countless schools across the country that train people in the industry as well as numerous organizations that specifically network veterans within the industry, there currently is no program to help transition veterans over to the industry by providing training at no cost. Therefore, we have no direct competitors.
Stage of Development
While Bad Habitz is still in the startup stage of development, interest by local veterans and local entertainment professionals has been exceptional. The Louisiana State Veterans Affairs office has expressed interest in the use of this program to help veterans with PTSD and veterans that are withdrawn from their family and their community.
Funds Sought
Bad Habitz is requesting, a one-time startup cost of $66,180 for purchasing the proper equipment and software to train our veterans, a yearly operational funding of $132,000 and a yearly cost of $50,000 for local entertainment professionals teach our veterans. The total a startup funding request by Bad Habitz Organization is $259,590. After the equipment is purchased, the yearly cost to train the veterans and have an operational budget is estimated at $507,770.
Future Goals
Bad Habitz Organization has already caught the attention of other veterans that are in the entertainment industry and of many veteran support organizations. With that in mind, once an established training curriculum has been produced, Bad Habitz would like to introduce the program to other state VA departments.
