Brief Introduction to Avium:
We are a team of former executives and consultants with specific expertise in operations, AAM (Advanced Air Mobility), UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), Safety Management, and Software development. Our team collectively possesses over 20 years of experience, including work with international groups and startups in each of these domains (excluding AAM).
Avium is dedicated to building a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution tailored for advanced air mobility vertiport operations. We collaborate with companies building atmospheric sensors, micro-weather modeling, eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) flight path optimization, cybersecurity for secure IoT (Internet of Things) remote control, and more. Avium's value proposition focuses on enhancing vertiport throughput for highly efficient and secure asset utilization. To achieve this, we employ complex optimization models involving thousands of parameters.
As eVTOLs approach certification for commercial flights and vertiport infrastructure companies develop their prototypes, it becomes clear to regulators and stakeholders (NASA, NUAIR, FAA) that automated ground operations for eVTOLs are essential. Several factors, such as the rapid sequence of events at vertiports and the desire to accommodate both crewed and uncrewed self-flying drones or eVTOLs, underscore the necessity of a unified ground operations concept. Avium's vertiport operations automation solution, in collaboration with our partners, enhances safety and efficiency to the highest standards.
To support our vision of automation in the early stages of advanced air mobility (2024, 2025), we have compiled a list of relevant publications, some of which are attached for your convenience:
- MIT - Development of Vertiport Capacity Envelopes and Analysis of Their Sensitivity to Topological and Operational Factors
- FAA - Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Implementation Plan, version 1, July 2023
- McKinsey – Building Digital Platforms to Enable Advanced Air Mobility
Our original idea, now in the form of a prototype, has gained validation from industry stakeholders. We have executed NDAs and MoUs with several organizations, and ongoing negotiations for strategic partnerships are in progress.
We are also actively involved in the following projects or submissions:
- Horizon Grant: ATM in Air Ground Operations 2023 - A paid project with the European Union, pending approval, expected in February 2024.
- DLR Urban Air Mobility: Testing lab - A paid project with the German Government, approved to start in January 2024.
- Praesens: Integration of drone operations with mobile blood labs - A paid project, pending approval by the German military.
- SIGN-AIR SESAR 3 JU: Multi-modal data-flow applied to vertiport automation systems – Pending contract.
Regarding our prototype, we are currently integrating our partners' wind models and atmospheric sensor data. In September, we will proceed with Wisekey IoT remote control integrations. Our objective is to be ready by the end of the year to begin integrating air traffic management solutions and conducting tests at the DLR facility.
Currently, we are in the process of raising our Series Seed funding of $5 million, and the pitch is attached.
We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to present our developments, digital twin, and MVP for testing. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our project, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Frederic
