Automotive restoration business looking to start up youth educational program for high schoolers to get hands-on certification on skilled trades.
I am the owner of Auchey Restoration in Hanover PA and we are a custom car restoration business. We have been a part of the Hanover community for over 7 years after branching off from the family business (Auchey & Son’s Body Shop) of nearly 70 years.
I grew up in the area and I am dedicated to mentoring youth in the area and teach them the trade of building custom automobiles. With over 20 years of automotive experience in mechanical, collision, and restoration work, I am the sole owner and manager of the company. In addition to a distinguished list of accomplishments in the automotive industry, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Crime, Law, and Justice from Pennsylvania State University and a member of the Outstanding Student Honor Society for meritorious achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service. My heart, however, belongs to my restoration work and community involvement.
I am reaching out to local companies in the community that would have an interest in partnering with us to support our efforts on giving the youth in the area real-life experience working in our industry so they can have a jumping-off point to further their careers.
We already have the interest from all the local high schools, York College and State Rep Kate Klunk office along with Congressman Lloyd Smucker behind our plans and the only missing link is local businesses to make sure we have the full communities support behind making my dream a reality. The one constant issue we heard from schools during this process is the students are falling behind because of virtual learning and they need this type of training to be successful when they graduate.
Join us in helping the youth in our community re-engaged and excited to have the life skills they need when they graduate to be able to point them in a direction on what they would like to do in the future. One of the biggest challenges I face today is the demand for customers looking to restore and customize their cars, but I cannot find talented individuals to hire, that is why I am passionate about making this dream a reality.
