Antiquarian History Project

I wish to make audio editions of Classic Southern literature available on the Amazon Audible format and perhaps others.

I feel that it is important to preserve the literature and historical works of the past in the format that is most used today. This benefits our culture and it is also a great for-profit business plan.

At the dawn of the internet and the twilight of the CD age (i.e. 1999-2005), I produced around a dozen 19th century works of both fiction and history in audio format for sale on CDs.  The problem was that CDs had run their course and the market no longer existed.

I kept digital audio copies of the many titles from long deceased authors from Thomas Carlyle to William Gilmore Simms and Theodore Roosevelt.

Now, after all these years, I want to put these public domain works into the Kindle format, with attractive eye catching covers along with their corresponding Audible editions up on Amazon and other formats for sale. I have the WAV files, they just need to be put together for a seamless Audible experience. PDFs of many other books are easily located on the web. I plan to convert them to KDP and audio so that busy people who commute or like to enrich other times with great audio editions of masterpieces from past centuries may have that opportunity.  In all, I have recordings of between 20 and 30 well known and recognized titles. I do not give a precise number because the number of titles will depend on how we stick together and divide up the mountain of material. I am willing to share samples of the recordings with prospective funders. I am also eager to start producing more titles!

Revenue in the Audiobooks market is projected to reach US$7.93B in 2024. Revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) of 10.44%, resulting in a projected total market volume of US$13.03B by 2029. In the Audiobooks market, the number of readers (listeners) is expected to amount to 1.8B users by 2029.
