Ackerman Aquaponics, Farms and Ranch. A small to midsize modular expandable type organic farm selling to the Houston Texas area restaurants and individuals. We will build our own modular greenhouses and aquaponics greenhouses. The market garden will be based on the organic, no till, no pesticide methods successfully used by Neversink Farm training courses and other market gardening books. We will be recruiting a successful market gardener to lead our Houston efforts. To support our market gardening lead we will hire graduated students from Texas A & M Agricultural schools with diverse ethnic backgrounds who will help grow and sell to the diverse ethnic communities and restaurants in Houston. We will be raising our own cattle, sheep, goats and pigs using a rotational regenerative system. We will work with a local butcher to process the meats which will be sold to restaurants and individuals. The aquaponics systems will use Australian fish which can be imported, grown and sold such as Jade Perch, Barramundi and Sleepy Cod. These are high quality Australian fresh water eating fish. We hope to be able to partner with Symbrosia and grow their red seaweed to use as cattle feed to lower their methane emissions. Because the seaweed requires saline water we hope to raise gulf coast blue crabs and work with a local farmer who has learned to grow the blue crabs year round. The farm will also raise chickens, quail, ducks (for eggs only), freshwater prawns, black fly larvae. We have also designed a solar trough reflector/collector system to heat a thermal heat transfer liquid that can be used in conjunction with eddy current windmills and biomass waste burning to generate storable heat that can power an organic rankine cycle electric generator, which can power the farm and then sell excess electricity on the open market. The expandable modules will not all be in place at once. We believe with a 2 acre market garden and 2 140'x25' greenhouses, 1 smaller greenhouse for microgreens, 1 aquaponic greenhouses with 10,000 jade perch, 2000 chickens rotated behind cattle, 500 ducks in 2 duck houses. 500 quail in 1 quail house, 50 wagyu cattle, 200 sheep, 100 goats, 200 heritage pigs after the first 18 months our sales will be close to 1.5 million dollars with a profit of over $600,000 after salaries. Our main focus at first will be the buildout of income producing products for sale. The $200,000 requested will not be needed at once. Only the amount needed for the down payments is needed at first. I believe the $400,000 operating loan will not be enough to cover the infastructure needed as we had planned on building living quarters on the land as a way to keep salaries lower. If income can be generated as soon as possible it may not be neccesary at all. My name is Fred Ackerman and I was raised in Ohio and grew up working on a family farm down the road and later on my cousin's farm. I am an electrical engineering designer by trade with over 35 years of experience and have overseen the electrical installation of over $10 million dollar electrical projects. I have 7 children over the age of 20 living here in the Houston area and have lived here myself over the last 16 years. This has been my dream to merge my 2 great loves, farming and engineering design, which is what this is. I have been working on this for over 9 years and have everything I want to do designed out in detail. Some of my children and their spouses will be working with me. Raising 7 great children has left me without a great deal of savings, that's why I am asking for your help. In my engineering career, I have never had a bad or failed project. I know what dedication and hardwork means and failure is not an option and never has been. There is more I am planning to do with this, so please contact me and we can discuss it.
