AB Films Canada

We are raising a minimum of $500,000.00 USD to build out our company and take our slate of projects to the next stage.

Canadian filmmaker, Bryce McLaughlin, has been writing, producing, directing, and acting for the better part of two decades. Well versed in all aspects of production, his career as an Assistant Director began later in his life. As an A.D. he found himself working beside some of our industry’s well known directors (Shawn Levy, Cameron Crowe), producers (Bob Fisher, Mary Viola) and actors (Ben Stiller, Luke and OwenWilson).

As an independent filmmaker, his movies have played in numerous film festivals around the nation and in 2020, McLaughlin’s novice feature film Genesis Code, a movie that he wrote, directed, and starred in, was released on many platforms in North America by Green Apple Entertainment and most recently in Germany.

Later in 2020 McLaughlin and his wife birthed their production company AB Films Inc., for the purpose of developing, packaging and producing the slate of projects in their possession. The first film under their AB Films label is titled “Death Rumble”, and was produced with Green Apple Entertainment. Death Rumble is scheduled to be released in 2023.

Our plan: 3 stages - 2 year, 5 year, and 10 year plan and vision.

Phase One - Raise $500,000.00 USD. Our industry works in USD currency. The main reason our ask is in US Dollars. The first stage is what we refer to development and packing. This is where the majority of our finances will be allocated to over the next 24 months.

With our funding we would;

  •  select specific projects that are commercially viable and entertaining
  • attach recognizable talent, who bode well in the domestic and international markets.
  • Partner with a top tier distribution company.
  • Retain services of a high level Producer to help oversee production.

Phase Two - $10 million USD (years 3 to 5)

Growth and ability to do more. Our plan and vision is on a large scale. Vancouver, BC, Canada is a major hub for making movies. Our service industry brings in 3 billion plus to the economy annually. There is a great opportunity for our company to build off of this and begin to raise up the next generation of filmmakers: be it writers, directors, producers and talent. The way we accomplish this is by investing in the local talent and at the same time, partnering with studios, streaming services, networks through either direct sales, output deals or orders.

Project dependant we would;

  • invest a percentage of capital into the budget
  • partner with a studio, a streaming service and/or network.
  • make a direct sale to Canadian Broadcast to initiate tax incentive programs
  • apply for funding through Telefilm Canada
  • seek other financial partners.

Phase Three - $50 to 100 million USD (year 5 to 10)

Studio Lot. The greater vision is to buy property North-West of Vancouver in the Squamish region. There is plenty of land and historically speaking most movies and TV series that are produced here use the mountainous and city scape to match the location of the story. Movies like Man of Steel, Godzilla, Dead Pool, Sonic the Hedge Hog 1 & 2 and popular series like Lost in Space, Virgin River, Shogun, the Last Airbender all are produced here. Building a studio in this region would be beneficial to many more productions like these coming to BC, and at the same time we would be using the facilities to make our own movies and series, very much the way the Studios do in LA. Simply it's a great opportunity to invest in an unchartered, but successful market.

With our funding we would;
  • purchase land (acres)
  • design and build 7 studios, plus a backlot which would consist of rural neighbourhoods, city streets, and deep wooded areas and forest, including a mountianside.
  • hirer facilities manager, team, and crew.

In our grand picture, we want to build a domestic industry or at least help stimulate an industry full of talented people who are well trained and skilled. Will you join us? We hope you do.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you.
