We have a bar/restaurant and a cafe/coffee shop which is the only eating establishment in my small town. Although it's needed and appreciated, the sales right now are not enough to cover all the cash flow needed for payroll and still paying on our start up costs. My business partner and I know we can be successful long term, and the community needs us, but we need a little help to get through the difficult first couple years. We have a full service breakfast and lunch cafe that also houses a specialty coffee shop with espresso drinks, fresh fruit smoothies, and pastries. In addition, we have a full service night time bar and restaurant. The two are on opposite sides of one building and share a kitchen. Our town is only about 700 people and this is the only dining establishment. The locals and anybody that comes from out of town rave about our food and coffee selection/quality, but it's still a challenge to make ends meet. $300,000 would pay off all of our start up costs, including the building and equipment plus give us a little extra for cash flow/payroll/bill pay purposes. Our staff includes myself (Jen) as the main barista/server and my business partner, Holly, as the cook during the day. We have two part time servers at the cafe that alternate days. Our night staff includes myself and Holly as extra help along with a full time cook, part time cook, and 4 part-time servers that alternate nights. Holly and I started our adventure just over two years ago with a coffee truck. Approximately a year ago, the building with the two restaurants came up for sale and we didn't want to see the only dining establishment in town close, so we went for it. It has been a huge undertaking with a definite learning curve, but we are getting better every single day. We simply need a little extra help.
