Redefining Beauty. Little woman, Big Business

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn

Whiplashed is a specialty Beauty Boutique that helps woman connect to themselves and their community by aiding in the personal defining of what beauty means to them vs what society tells them it means.
We not only will offer a variety of services and range of pricing but provide opportunity for other woman to begin their own journey of entrepreneurship by renting a space within our salon and offering their own service under our name while building clientele.
We are a startup, I just rented our first location a few months ago and we are finishing the buildout currently so we can open our doors soon. August 1st is our grand opening. Because of this we are not able to currently bring in the generated income we have seen or have the potential income we project. I’m a single mother and I currently have no other employees. We haven’t done much advertising and most of my clients come from word of mouth. I have an extremely high retention rate for my clients and most return on a two week basis and regularly buy my products and recommend services and product to other woman as well. For the future, not only would I love to begin the hiring process at my location,  I would like to become a franchise to further broaden this idea outside of just Grand Rapids and allow other men or woman to extend the olive branch in their own community. We do not have any other chain specialty salons allowing the flexibility of services such as waxing, eyelash extensions, and hair extensions etc. available.
I also personally make all of the products I offer for sale and would like to not only increase the batch size but be able to further develop my own full beauty line. I would love to collaborate and bring in other local vendors and their products and merchandise as well.
My best selling products currently are;
1. Pussy Whipped- a non greasy, super moisturizer that is light and airy in scent and able to be used from head to toe and everywhere in between. It can be used as an aftershave or post waxing soother or a hand lotion. I used the money made from this to help the local woman’s shelter; hence the name, but this is a non gender specific product and both men and woman have purchased and reordered the product.
2. Lash Bath- a foaming liquid Cleanser for eyelash extensions to maintain the health of natural lashes and the retention of the extensions. (We offer this also as a disposable wipe called Lash Pads.)
Furthermore, I’m in the midst of developing a non profit(Little Woman, Big Business)that is dedicated to helping define beauty for our youth before they are an adult and we have to redefine it.  This involves weekly groups were we offer local girls the opportunity to come and shadow other woman who are in business for themselves. Wether it’s a stylist, healthcare professional, or marketing executive I believe beauty exists in us all and  we are taught to look elsewhere such as in material items or people in the spotlight, but beauty exist right here in our own communities and people and by changing the perception of this, we allow our youth to see first hand how achievable the sense of beautiful is. By aiding your community and being a role model to our youth, and lending a helping hand to those around us, we can all embrace beauty the way it should be and was always meant to be.
