My school would teach children of varied ages about life, real history, self-discipline and ancient truths through the arts of drama and music. As a professional performing teaching artist for many organizations such as Wesleyan University, Hartford Academy of Performing Arts (Summer Theatre Director and Teacher), Hartford Stage Company, Maui Academy of the Performing Arts and others, I have been involved in almost every stage of the arts on a highly-established, professional platform. Being a professional performer myself for 25-plus years with two pensions (AEA, SAG-AFTRA), under my married name Lori Putnam, I have performed in Off-Broadway productions in New York City; Julliard's Acting Company touring troupe 1983; Television (The Guiding Light as Susannah Hayden); independent films; and many national commercials including McDonald's, Northwest Airlines, Maxim Coffee, Lysol, Campbell's Soup and more.
With a group of local thespians in East Hampton, Connecticut called the Podium Players, I wrote and directed musicals for the children of that area for two years in 2001 and 2002. Now, I would like to expand the creativity to include ancient texts from the 17-1800's which include accounts of Atlantis, the industrial history of the United States, and other esoteric writings that I believe will inspire and heal the wounded nature of our world at present. The children will be involved in the writing and performance of these texts, bringing alive antiquity in a way that is exciting and also teaches them the virtue of being highly disciplined -- without effort. I, myself, learned this through the arts and would like to pass on my knowledge and skill.
I am dedicated and have always succeeded in my goals from being the sole recipient of the Music/Drama award at Henderson High School (in West Chester, PA) to creating a full life in the arts in theatre, television and film. I appreciate your time and consideration.
