I am working on an app called TruStar. We are a musician discovery and community for aspiring musicians. A collective space of artists creating musical content and sharing with others. You might ask how this is different from an artist on YouTube or FB? Well we have taken an already successful business model and adapted it to a different media platform.
We will be hosting monthly singing competitions on our app, done right from your mobile device. Think American Idol, but in 2020. No one has to leave their house, all content is recorded on your phone, and the contestants will be voted on by their peers. The winner will be signed to our management company and will have an opportunity at a record contract.
I have financed the build of the app and it is currently in for review for upload to the app store. I am looking to raise $250K to go to pre-launch marketing, an in house IT person for launch, and the ability to scale server space as needed. But more importantly, the experience of an early stage VC that has done this before to help guide!
I am confident with the right team and guidance from someone who has done this before, this could be widely popular. Also, what better of a time to launch a virtual singing competition, no one wants to go wait in lines, in mass crowds. I think the media would pick this up pretty easily as they are salivating for anything positive during these difficult times.
