We are a father-daughter team with the ambition to open a motorcycle repair shop together. The support provided would allow us to secure a building that we can open the shop in, purchase necessary computers and software needed to work on modern fuel-injected machines, help us obtain aftermarket distributors to sell new parts, help us obtain our LLC, and any insurance needed.
My father, Steve Shivalec, has been doing this for the past 35 years between privately owned shops and multiline franchise dealers. During slow times, like winter, he bartends and serves tables in the evenings, which he loves doing. Over the years, he has blended both of those skill sets, which has helped him create a great experience for customers in the power sports service industry.
He has owned his own shops in the past, including one in Holly Hill, FL, which he had to close due to the wildfires getting within a half of a mile of his shop in the summer of 1998. As a result, he moved back to our home state of Indiana and, shortly after, opened another shop in 2004 called Sideways Cycles. He reluctantly had to close that shop in 2008 when the market crashed. He has continued to work on motorcycles and power sports machines during his free time, but hasn't had another opportunity to open a full-fledged shop, until now. Now we are trying to do it together.
I (Macy Shivalec) am currently working 45+ hours a week at my full-time job, to make this happen. While he continues to wrench at home to save up startup money. He recently left a full-time job due to past injuries that were constantly aggravated by the industrial work he was doing.
We have written up a lean business plan to get started, which can be provided. We just don't have the startup funds that we need to get going. We are not looking for just monetary help, but help in other areas with getting our business organized and to learn great business practices helping us be successful.
