The Academy offers an after-school tennis junior program. It currently offers three classes, a beginner / intermediate class lasting 1.5 hours, an advanced class lasting two hours Monday thru Thursday, and a 10 and under class lasting 1.5 hours on Saturday and Sunday. It also offers private lessons Friday, Saturday and Sunday, weekly camps on all major holidays, and summer camps. Some of its players also compete in local and state tournaments.
The Academy has approximately 100 youths enrolled in its monthly sessions throughout the year, ages between 5 to 17 years old. All (or substantially all) of its youths are local residents and go to local schools and its staff consists of 5 USPTA certified coaches.
The Academy faces certain supply restrictions which is prompting its development of a private tennis club in the area. At this time, the Academy uses three courts at high school and middle schools. Its junior tennis program is full every day of the week and it currently have a waiting list of approximately 20 applicants. Moreover, the Academy is limited in the number of courts it can use at the high schools and middle schools and the hours that it can use the courts due to restrictions associated with school hours. For example, when the school team has matches, the Academy must find courts at another school where it can hold tennis classes, which of course is disruptive. Moreover, at this time the Academy must compete for limited access to the local courts with the general public. In the Academy’s view, there are not enough tennis courts in the area to fulfill the demand that currently exists, and there is no dedicated Frisco municipal tennis facility.
