Sweetheart Doodles is a woman-owned business specializing in family-raising puppies using science based methods including neurological, sensory, and social stimulation techniques to achieve ideal temperaments suitable for service work, therapy work, emotional support, companionship, and family life. As a business owned and operated by a nationally registered and licensed pediatric occupational therapist with experience in the Maryland public schools, we understand the needs of even the most complex families. It is our honor to donate at least one pup from each litter to a child with special needs and their family to help lift the financial burden of obtaining a canine therapeutic support dog off their shoulders. We will donate this dog directly to the family or to a service dog organization of their choosing depending of the level of training the family needs in their dog. The owner and co-founder of Sweeterhart Doodles, Audra, has been a nationally registered and certified occupational therapist for 14 years servicing people of all ages in a variety of settings. Prior to her transition into the public schools, she supported the elderly population residing in skilled nursing facilities to achieve their highest levels of comfort and independence during activities daily living. Her focus, both personally and professionally, has always been to see the whole person and help them reach the goals that matter most to them. She also has personal experience with health struggles, which is why she is so passionate about bringing canine therapeutic support into the lives of children who could benefit from a loyal best friend. At Sweetheart Doodles we understand firsthand the benefits of having access to canine companionship on one's journey to find happiness and healing.
Sweetheart Doodles has partnered with other responsible breeders across the nation to ensure we have high quality bred pups available when a deserving family is in need to help manage wait times so families in need feel heard and supported. We are eager to continue building this circle of responsible breeders so we can grow this mission in all regions. We are also partnering with organizations (on a local, regional, and national level) who work closely with families of children with special needs so they know our program is available as a resource to them. Our dogs will be available for children who would benefit from dogs for emotional support or companionship (for example, those struggling with anxiety or depression), and those with more complex and/or urgent medical needs requiring service dog level support (for example, PTSD, autism, diabetes, etc.). We are also aiming to work with facilities seeking trained facility dogs to offer trained care with handler support. Our donation program includes a variation of mixed and purebred dogs, depending on the need and availability (this currently includes Bernedoodles, Golden Retrievers, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Goldendoodles, Moyen Poodles, Irishdoodles, and Havanese...with more to come).
Sweetheart Doodles is looking for funding/grants to help our small startup business and support mission grow. We believe our company can make a positive impact in the lives of children across multiple communities (since our donated dogs will be available to families in need across the US). Building a partnership with you would ensure that our sweet-natured pups are put into the hands of families who need them most. I know our mission may seem small now, but supporting the company's growth would have a huge impact on the lives of children who often feel overlooked by today's society.
In a world that often leaves these children feeling unseen, the Sweetheart Doodles mission is to make sure they know we see them...through both human and canine eyes.
We feel that no one should ever struggle to find their sweetheart.
Funding/grants will go toward expenses associated with educational trainings related to whelping and puppy-rearing methods, renovation of the whelping and puppy-rearing space with emphasis on the neurological and sensory exposure components, partnerships with service dog trainers and organizations to ensure dogs can be transitioned directly into their programs as needed, marketing strategies, dogs with completed health and genetic testing (with records provided), etc. I have a professional business plan available to share with anyone who is interested in funding our business. We also have a website to view.
