Succeeding Despite Inc.

Succeeding Despite Inc. is  a unique, community-based organization helping older adults with assisted transportation and supportive services.   Our mission is improve older adult’s quality of life in the Washington DC Metro Area, while providing a necessary service to over half a million people in the DMV area. As a community based organization we are out in the community, meeting with individuals who give tearful accounts of the frustrating issues with the current providers and have dozens of people on the waiting list for our services.

The founder, Kiristan Leftwich has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management as well as a Masters in Human Services and over 20 years in nonprofit work. The board of directors has a business focus, and experience in accounting, business management, human services and healthcare. 

Our business model has a focus on providing consistent service and become a better option for older adults who need transportation or asking for an alternative to software based apps and public transportation providing transportation.  Our rates will be competitive, yet affordable to those in need. 

Services will include: basic  transportation, transportation with supportive services (assisting client into the office, completing paperwork and other tasks), completing errands for or with clients, and personalized group transportation services for larger outings.

Funding would be used to launch the program in several ways. Acquiring a vehicle fleet of sedans(7), purchasing a wheelchair accessible vans and a larger vehicle that can accommodate up to 15 passengers. We will need an office as well as salaries for up to 10 people for 90 days. Since this will be a paid service, A/R will be used to offset any additional costs as well as repay the investor. We will also aggressively seek out grants and contracts to further secure our revenue stream during the 1st year of operations.
