Raising 60K to upgrade the motor on our charter boat.

We are a family own and operated  sight seeing charter business in Whittier, Alaska. Our boat is the Veronica Mae, a 1970's commercial fishing vessel turned pleasure cruiser. We take visitors out on the Prince William Sound along the coast of south central Alaska. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy the mountainous landscape, narrow fjords, pristine water, abundant wildlife, and glaciers.  Our operating season is March - October where we host a variety of trips including overnight trips, back country skiing trips, kayaking trips, fishing trips, and glacier viewing trips. Our focus is providing exceptional hospitality in an intimate family oriented setting.

The Veronica Mae is harbored in the town of Whittier, which is the nearest deep water port to Anchorage and the international airport. Whittier itself hosts a major cruise ship terminal bringing thousands of guests per week during peak season with and additional terminal under construction.  Basically this area is a heavily trafficked tourist destination, and for good reason.  The pristine coastline of the Prince William sound is unlike any other place in the world. Its waters are an intricate maze of narrow channels and inlets snaking through the dramatic geography of the Chugach mountains, ice fields, and many mountainous islands. The 3,800 miles of remote coastline boast engaging scenery and abundant salmon runs.

Given that we operate in this vast nearly untouched landscape, environmental conservation is out biggest value. We do everything we can to be as green as possible, we avoid single use plastics, recycle, and practice being stewards of the land.  It is our vision to upgrade the main engine of the Veronica Mae from the old 1970's diesel she's got to a new EPA certified tier 3 engine. Teir 3 is the highest standard for emissions and efficiency. This new engine also has the added benefit of being quieter, more fuel efficient, and allow us to run at slightly greater speeds increasing the area we can offer guests.

The 2023 season has come to a close and the start of the next operations will be in March. During March and April we are going to be doing overnight back country ski trips, and then transitioning into regular glacier trips for the rest of the summer. We have the time to install the motor now and are looking for funds for the upgrade.
