Raising $5M for the commercialization of a state-of-the-art software engine for Virtual Effects in the Film and TV industry

MixCast Studios Inc. is a software developer and entertainment company situated in Vancouver, BC. Our primary focus has been the development of MixCast, a proprietary, world-class capture solution for the Film and TV industry, enabling filmmakers to film real people within 3D digital environments in real-time. MixCast is a state-of-the-art software engine that permits actors and cameras to move freely within a photorealistic virtual environment, offering a filming experience akin to being on an actual set. We are able to volumetrically sync real-world elements and 3D digital environments, enabling cameras and filmmakers to see and film both at the same time.

Industry wide, Film and TV production costs must be reduced. Traditional green screen virtual effects (“VFX”) solutions lag in efficiency and struggle to meet the industry’s evolving technological needs. They are time consuming, labor intensive, and have expensive backend processes. Physical production teams are unable to view digital effects during filming, increasing the likelihood of discrepancies between the initial vision and post-production VFX. The other solution, LED Walls, are notably costly and come with significant risks. They require picture-locked assets on the day of filming and, without the flexibility to tweak the final output afterward, this often results in costly corrections and reshoots.

MixCast’s filming solution is poised to streamline the VFX process from pre-production to post-production. The MixCast software engine revolutionizes the virtual production pipeline with a flexible workflow, removing the need for deadline-bound, picture-ready assets and allowing digital assets to be adjusted at any point in the production process. Every feature integrated into MixCast is designed to enhance efficiency, minimize risk, and ultimately reduce production costs.

The global VFX market was estimated to be ~$36B in 2023 and is expected to grow to ~$106B in 2032, with nearly 45% of the market coming from North America. To commercialize the MixCast technology platform and capture some of this market share, we have three approaches to revenue generation:

·       MixCast On-Location: We plan to be available for worldwide on-location productions, suitable for both short and semi-long term projects. Targeted customer profiles are on-location Film and TV productions and commercial projects.
·       MixCast Innovation Center: We plan to open a ready-to-use MixCast-enabled film studio in California where we will provide the highest-end version of our visual recording services to the film and tv industry as a cost-effective method for recording a wide range of traditional VFX shots. Targeted customer profiles are local Film and TV productions, pick-up shots, reshoots, 2nd unit, commercials, pitch vis, and pre-production prove-out.
·       MixCast Studio Licensing Model: Once we have established a proven business case for licensing, we plan to offer annual site licenses to the MixCast platform to production companies and facilities aiming to establish a permanent MixCast studio of their own. Targeted customers are existing studio owners.

He has been deeply involved in the technology & gaming space for the past 10 years, collaborating with Rockstar Games, Intel, HTC Vive, Nvidia, and Blackmagic Designs.

To test the technology in-market and gather customer interest, MixCast Studios Inc. leased a green screen production studio at CBS Radford Studios in Studio City, California,  in early 2024. The company conducted daily demonstrations for major studios, esteemed industry professionals, and top-tier AAA production teams. Feedback was exceptionally positive, leading to numerous serious inquiries from major productions around the world and two Letters of Intent. We are raising $5M to pursue these opportunities and further develop the revenue streams above.
