Providing relief and support to cancer patients and their caregivers. I am a cancer survivor myself and found out firsthand just how devastating and expensive having cancer can be.
There are sometimes many obstacles to getting the care that you need.  I was led to start a foundation to come alongside others to help where I saw a need. For example, I needed hearing aids after my chemotherapy affected my hearing so badly and our health insurance didn't cover it.  A friend supplied the cost of my hearing aids. My wife and I also saw the need for others to help us with transportation to and from my chemo treatments. Cancer can debilitate you so much that patients require assistive devices like walkers, canes, wheelchairs, and transfer boards. Up to this point, we have only been able to help those with our volunteer drivers who can enter and exit a vehicle with minimal to limited assistance and were unable to help those who require wheelchair access in and out, in other words, they are dependent on their wheelchair. We are currently partnered with the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan to provide rides to cancer patients who can't afford to pay for them.
