I am currently a Tarot Reader at a Psychic Parleur, in French Quarter New Orleans, Less than a block from the famous Bourbon Street. I was recently offered the opportunity to purchase the Parleur but I lack capital to do so.
Our community needs a local based business with local made products as well as a safe center where our young adults can commune together for spiritual healing and enlightenment. This will be a judge-free zone where young adults can come and learn and heal while we pass along traditions throughout our community.
My ambition is to help prevent young adults from making bad choices in their lives. Most of my sessions touch on sensitive topics such as Trans-gender transition, gay complexes, marriage issues, medical and mental health issues, sobriety issues, unofficial grief counseling, job issues, and many more trauma related issues. A safe-haven is needed for the broken to heal. Sometimes individuals hesitate on things like mental healing and seeing a therapist or medical professional. We are the middle man than encourages self care and personal wellness
But also family owned establishment where tourists can purchase hand made products by locals, locally, with locally grown & sourced ingredients.
Many come from near and far to own businesses in French Quarter New Orleans so they can profit from our culture and heritage. Our community can do better as a collective... we just need an opportunity.
With $15,000 I would be able to purchase the existing business, all of the existing furniture, current software and all clientele and have 100% shares of the establishment.
I envision taking over the existing brick-and-mortar establishment and transitioning the Parleur into a Metaphysical Store & Spiritual Healing Center. In addition to Tarot and other divination services, we would also provide spiritual healing and metaphysical products ( locally sourced or made in store ) such as hand poured candles, herbs, wellness dolls, reiki, meditation, crystals, as well as other tools and forms of spiritual enlightenment.
Our store would be different from the rest of the stores in the French Quarter because it will be own and run by New Orleans Natives (starting with myself and 2 teenage daughters), selling items that we made locally with knowledge that we learned by our elders instead of another Voudou store owned by a random person from somewhere like Connecticut who orders his products from China.
We hold our Spirituality incredibly sacred and it breaks my heart that our tradition and heritage are dying at the hands of transplants from elsewhere with candles from China. I grew up in this heritage and had to learn our spirituality from my hereditary elders, and now passing down to my children. I envision one day becoming the Elder Matriarch of my family, raising grandchildren in this store, teaching them the same techniques that I learned through my grandmother's grandmothers.
The opportunity is very real. I am currently working for the exact establishment I must find capital to purchase.
