King Motel, LLC

I own an older style motel which seems to be filling a void in my county.  We specialize in serving those in need of emergency and transitional housing, whether it be from job loss, poor life choices, a poor eviction record, etc.  We strive to keep these rooms as comfortable and affordable as we can while keeping them within a budget.  That  being said, the capital to keep this building and its grounds and amenities in good condition is hard to come by.  It is our wish to keep filling this need in our county as the homeless population is growing and affordable housing is hard to come by.  I am looking for people who are interested in helping to keep the homeless off the streets and at least alleviate the stress of having a roof over their head.  It is proven that if someone in dire straits at least has a warm, safe place to sleep at night, the other hurdles are not so hard to jump.  My husband and I also serve as mentors and examples to those who feel that those hills are just to big to climb.  We have helped to launch many individuals by showing we have faith in them, no matter what they may look like, no matter what they may have done in the past, etc.  We put ourselves in financial strain so to keep these people housed until they can get assistance elsewhere.  However, our heart is way bigger than our pocketbooks and we are looking for others who have the same compassion.  We have learned that not all homeless people are "credible" and just look to abuse the system.  We have also learned, however, that many of these people struggle with mental illness that makes then incapable of managing everyday life.  Many of them started "using" because they had an underlying mental illness or they came from a dysfunctional home and needed to "escape" .  Regardless, there is a growing population even in these rural counties and we are trying to fill that need to the best of our ability.  We work with Salvation Army, United Community Action Partnership, Veterans Services, etc. to try and make a difference.  I am hoping that someone or some entity has the same compassion as we do and can contribute to the overhead needed to serve the less fortunate.  Thank you for your time and attention and may God Bless!
