Hyzer Disc Sports LLC has been the leading Connecticut based Disc Golf retail store since 2018. We opened our first physical retail space in the detached garage of our current home in Vernon Connecticut, in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Since we have opened in 2018, we have secured multiple vending/sponsorship opportunities with major tournaments in the area as well as title sponsor our own yearly events. We also maintain the lost and found box for a local course. Currently, the retail space we occupy has reached capacity and we need to expand the business and hours of operation to meet the needs of the local market. We cannot even get all of our inventory out for display because we have filled every inch of available space. We are also the only disc golf retailer east of the Connecticut River, and we are the only retailer in the state that buys and sells used discs as well.
Currently our space is only open one day per week, for 4 hours, out of our personal garage which leaves a great deal of our market unable to patronize the store. We take appointments for mid-week shopping to help those who cannot stop in during our normal hours. Unfortunately, we do not currently have the capitol to expand into a commercial space and hire staff to man it. With $200K in starting capitol we will be able to give our growing brand the legitimacy it deserves and give our customers the best possible experience we can provide. We will be able to hold normal business hours, which will significantly grow top line revenue and build upon our already great brand. We have an operational website via Shopify, which we also use for inventory management and the POS system in our physical store. We have shipped internationally too countries such as Finland and Sweden as well as to 48 of the 50 States in the US.
Our customers are mainly newer and casual players. Disc Golf has seen a major boom over the past few years, particularly since the pandemic. ESPN has already signed deals to run coverage of the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) for the 2023 season, which is going to lead to yet another boom in participation and new players as the sport gains even more traction. Limited and special edition discs are a major seller for us as well.
As the owner, I still maintain a full-time job with another company as a chef/manager. I have recently graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Central Connecticut State University (AACSB Accredited). My wife heads up our social media marketing, while also holding down a full-time account manager role with another company.
