My grandfather has a humble background as a gasman in Chicago. He was hardworking and an absolute joy to be around. He quickly became my favorite person after sneaking me candy and taking me to baseball games. However, when he was seventy, he began to lose his vision and around eighty years old he lost his eye sight completely. After only one year of blindness his health drastically declined because he couldn't cook, would get lost trying to get water. He became depressed and his temper would flare up. It seemed as if he turned into a different person. We were all frozen in place partly because we didn't know what to do and we were hurt watching the one we loved turn down this path. Obviously, we cant give him his sight back so we what we needed to do was give him his life back.  My mom and I started small. Something that my grandfather LOVES is coffee. He couldn't heat up a cup because, for example, he cant tell the difference between a one, two, cancel, and enter. We came up with a way for him to heat his coffee and food properly. First, outside the bedroom there are small lines on the walls that say out loud where they lead if you follow them. Then, at each entrance to a room there is a small button the says out loud what room he will walk into. Put these together and now he always knows what room he is in and how to get to other places in his house. After about ten of these tricks, I realized he isn't the only one. There are millions of people around the United States and even the world that can use these. I design these products with one goal in mind, convenience.  Ultimately, we want to use this money to cement our company Glimpse into the front lines of life and home improvement and make a variety of products for years to come.
