The timber industry, despite being located in a secondary production sector, has demonstrated high dynamism in its sales in the international market in recent years, having an artisanal wood culture and availability of 100% local raw materials that It is used for the production of products that satisfy the demand of national and international markets, reflecting the rebound of said industry in exports. The main importing country worldwide for wood is the United States with a 33% share of the demand for this product. With lower participation we have European countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom. Among the main suppliers to the United States is China, followed by Canada.
We offer technical and professional services in sustainable and endogenous primary activities of the forestry sector, such as timber plantation-cultivation, reproduction, tree felling, medicinal or ornamental plants, seeds, products, raw materials and merchandise related to the sustainable use of the forest.
We also produce, conserve, transform, distribute, transport and market products derived from forestry and their derivatives. Additionally, we provide technical advisory services, scientific and technological innovation and support to the public and private sectors in sustainable and endogenous primary activities of the forestry sector. Currently our country has the urgent need to diversify its exportable offer much more. Our target market is dollarized, exports are vital activities for the entry of foreign currency into the country, giving rise to the impetus for the international production and marketing of “non-traditional products” with great potential such as the wood industry and its multiple applications.
