We are describing two request, one request is from the for profit entity and the second request is from the non profit entity. We are a for profit company that provides services for individuals with special needs through a contract with the State of Texas (since 1993). (1) Our non profit arm is requesting funds, at this time, to support individuals who are NOT a part of the State Home & Community Based Services but their names are on the 12,000 plus wait list with the State of Texas (the wait can be up to 10 years). These funds will help pay for day habilitation services and respite services through our for profit entity, R & L Group, Inc. With this $300,000 loan/grant, the non profit entity will be able to serve individuals with special needs who's names are still on the waiting list and have not been provided with a Home & Community Based Services slot.
R & L Group, Inc. has had a state contract since 1996. and down sized in 2012 and 2018. This non profit arm has remained dormant since its inception. We have filed the requisite filings annually (990 and franchise tax report forms). (2) The For Profit entity has recently been approached by another company in our same industry. They are selling their business. R & L Group, Inc. is requesting $300,000 to purchase their business. If we are given the loan to purchase the 20 consumers (clients) we will be able to generate funds to support the intentions of the non profit.
