I am a filmmaker looking to make a feature film in Spokane Wa. My film is a low budget horror film titled Dreamland.
I am a student in Washington studying Digital Media Production. I have published one book called Game it is available on
Amazon and at Barnes and Nobles.com.
The film is called Dreamland and it follows a young female protagonist after she is kidnapped along with five
other girls. Dr. Love is a scientist who is believes he is bringing about the next stage of human evolution. By giving
the girls cybernetic enhancements. The film is a Cyberpunk horror hybrid. If you are unfamiliar with cyberpunk
think Matrix and Netflixes Altered Carbon. The merging of these two genres is economically possible and will
put a twist into the Horror genre tropes that audiences will be expecting. The cyberpunk takes the form of
computer controlled surgery that allows Dr. Love the scientist to operate on the girls and give them the cyber parts
himself. The film is called Dreamland because the girls are living in Dr. Love's dream and there is a Droid in with the
kidnapped girls that allows there thoughts to be projected on a wall.
This film if made for this budget can be very tasteful and haunting.
Now more than ever there is a strong market for Horror films and Festivals that cater to just horror.
Horror films are good investments as the cost is low and the gain is high. There are films such as Saw which cost
1.5 million and grossed a 101 million dollars. Hostel cost 4.5 million and grossed 80 million dollars. The Purge had a budget of 3 million
and grossed 89 million Get Out had a budget of 4.5 million and grossed 255 million. I could name other
cases where horror films paid back big returns.
If founded I would hire a whole production team hire a Producer, Production Manager, and Line Producer.
The investors would get Executive Producer Credits in the final film. Hiring a team of seasoned veterans who
would bring the film on budget and on schedule. The hope is to show the film at the 2022 Sundance Film festival
South By Southwest, and Fangoria Film Festival. In order to do that we need to to have the film completed by August of
next year. With this size budget the we could attract name talent to play the lead role. And the film will shoot in
Spokane WA spending over %90 of the budget in Washington state. The WashingtonFilm works is Washington states
film incentive program that will pay the production %30 percent of the budget back for filming in Washington. That is
almost a million dollars investors will get back before the film goes to theaters.
