Autism Learning Academy

I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Specialist who has worked in the field of Developmental Disabilities, Intellectual Disability, Autism support services and Special Education for 20 years. I am the leader of a highly qualified team of special educators and behavior analysts that would like to start a year-round private special education school that specializes in educating children/adolescents that have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Disability.  Our school would offer special education with differentiated instruction tailored to each students' needs while also providing Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and behavior support. Depending on the need, we would also offer specialized transportation to and from school.  Tuition per student would be paid by the home school district where the child resides, or private pay and the program will be a for profit business to ensure the highest quality of care. Investment money would go toward securing a location to lease, architect/engineering costs to ensure the building/location is suitable to support the needs of a school for children with special needs, curriculum needs, supplies and salaries. Many children with special needs are not able to get the individualized support that they need to thrive in their educational environment. Our program will change this by tailoring each students' education to their individual needs and goals. Our program would require a high staff to student ratio, with no less than 2 students to 1 support staff and in some cases 1:1 support.  We would employ myself as COO/CEO, an Education Director with the necessary qualifications set forth by the state, a Clinical Director who would oversee all related therapies (Speech, Occupational, Physical, Behavior Analysis), Certified Special Education Teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians, Paraprofessionals. The goal is to find a location suitable in the Charleston, SC area.
